WASHINGTON (August 24, 2018) --- Howard University women's soccer team lost its first home game of the season, 3-0 against the Yale Bulldogs. The Bison record is now 1-2.
Outshot by Yale, 17-7, Howard was unable to ever get on the board. Jasmin Miller and Jordan Taylor shot twice, while Bayley Carmichael and Kenya Saunders shot once. Defensively, goalkeeper Mackenzie Diotte recorded four saves and Alayah Hightower recorded two.
The Bulldogs started the game with sophomore forward Ciara Ostrander scoring at the 14 minute mark with an assist from Noelle Higginson. Their tempo increased with Higginson and midfielder Sarah Jordan both scoring late in the first half.
This is the second year in a row that the Bulldogs have played the Bison. In 2017, Yale won, 2-1.
Next week the Bison travel to Mount St. Mary's University to face the Mountaineers. Game time is 4 p.m.
