Emmitsburg, Md. (August 31, 2018) --- Howard (1-3) kept the game tight at 1-1 until Mount St. Mary's took advantage of an open goal in the final two minutes of Friday's match in Waldron Family Stadium. The late goal resulted in a last minute loss for the Bison.
In the first half, the Mountaineers scored at the three minute mark of the game after freshman Maddie Tchou tapped the ball in the goal with assists from Gianna Pomykacz and Bianca Gillman.
Howard answered 40 minutes later when Priscilla Ayala took a free kick that rebounded off of goalkeeper Aleeya Sawyer, who took the shot and tied the game, 1-1. Ayala and freshman Jordan Taylor both had two shots. Defensively, Mackenzie Diotte had 5 saves in the game.
In both periods the Bison were outshot by the Mountaineers who finished the game with 17 shots to Howard's 7. The two teams were equal in corner kicks with each team taking two. The Mountaineers had two in the first half and the Bison had two in the second half.
Howard returns to Greene Stadium on September 2 to face the Longwood Lancers at 2 p.m.
