WASHINGTON (August 24, 2018) - Following weeks of practice and an exhibition game against Georgetown University, the Howard University volleyball team will open its season tonight against George Washington University. First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m. in Burr Gymnasium.

This is the first year that Howard opens its season against GW. In last year's meeting the Bison won in three sets. This will be the 27th meeting between the two teams as four starters return for the Colonials. Those returning are senior middle blockers Kelsey Clark and Alexis Lete, along with junior setter Jaimeson Lee and outside hitter Skylar Iott.

The Bison are the three-time defending MEAC champions and looking to keep the momentum from last season going as they adjust to losing Khaila Donaldson, Carlise Cardoza and Jessica Young. Senior captains Courtney Dalton, Tamia Dockery and Olubunmi Okunade are expected to step up this season.

Tonight's game is the first of a string of four in a row for the Bison. Three of those games are being held in Burr Gym. The only away game this weekend is against George Mason on Saturday. HU returns home on Sunday to face Wichita State. On Monday, the Bison will host No. 1 Stanford at 7 p.m.
