Furman Pulls Away from Bison

Bison hang tough, but big rally by Paladins down Howard

WASHINGTON (April 20, 2018) – After a four-match road swing, the Howard University Women's Lacrosse team hung tough, but a big rally from the Furman Paladins would down HU, 18-6, at Greene Stadium.

With less than six minutes before intermission, senior Tahirah Williams pulled the Bison within three after an unassisted goal, 8-5.

From that point on, Howard suffered a scoring drought that went nearly 25 minutes and rolled over into the second half.

As a result, the Paladins capitalized, scoring nine unanswered and ballooned the margin to double-digits, 17-5.

Freshman defender Marquia Walker stopped HU's scoring drought with under 10 minutes left.

Senior Natia Warren led the way with three goals on four shots. Newcomer Tiffany Hunt added a goal in a losing effort.

Senior goalkeeper Amerra Sheckles racked up a match-high 15 saves in the loss.

Furman (5-10) had nine Paladins score in the contest, led by Grace Pollak with a match-high four goals in the win.

Sunday (April 22), the Bison welcome Wofford on Senior Day. Match time is scheduled for 11 a.m. at Greene Stadium.
