WASHINGTON (April 20, 2018) – After a four-match road swing, the Howard University Women's Lacrosse team hung tough, but a big rally from the Furman Paladins would down HU, 18-6, at Greene Stadium.
With less than six minutes before intermission, senior
Tahirah Williams pulled the Bison within three after an unassisted goal, 8-5.
From that point on, Howard suffered a scoring drought that went nearly 25 minutes and rolled over into the second half.
As a result, the Paladins capitalized, scoring nine unanswered and ballooned the margin to double-digits, 17-5.
Freshman defender
Marquia Walker stopped HU's scoring drought with under 10 minutes left.
Senior
Natia Warren led the way with three goals on four shots. Newcomer
Tiffany Hunt added a goal in a losing effort.
Senior goalkeeper
Amerra Sheckles racked up a match-high 15 saves in the loss.
Furman (5-10) had nine Paladins score in the contest, led by Grace Pollak with a match-high four goals in the win.
Sunday (April 22), the Bison welcome Wofford on Senior Day. Match time is scheduled for 11 a.m. at Greene Stadium.
