DELAND, Fla. (April 15, 2018) – Howard University Women's Lacrosse team were defeated on the road at Stetson (SU), 19-4, in Atlantic Sun (ASUN) play.
Senior
Natia Warren led the way with three goals, three draw controls, and two ground balls. Fellow classmate
Tahirah Williams added three ground balls and a goal in a losing effort.
SU extended its advantage, scoring three goals within the first 10 minutes after intermission, 18-1.
HU fought back and tallied three unanswered within a five-minute span, but the Hatters added an insurance goal with less than three minutes remaining, 19-4.
Defensively, senior goalkeeper
Amerra Sheckles had a match-high 12 saves in the loss.
SU opened the contest scoring the first four goals until Warren ended HU's drought at the 20:27 mark, 4-1.
From that point on, the Hatters could not be stopped as they finished the half with 11 unanswered goals, 15-1.
Stetson (4-10, 1-2 ASUN) had 12 Hatters score in the match, led by Karli Maguire and Hallie Merz each with three goals. Riley Reagan registered nine points on seven assists and two goals in the victory.
Howard (1-9, 0-4 ASUN) returns to The District with three straight home matches to end the regular season.
Friday (April 20), HU hosts Southern Conference foe Furman at noon.
Sunday (April 22), the Bison square off against Wofford on Senior Day. The action starts at noon.
