JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (April 13, 2018) – In their toughest match of the season, the Howard University Women's Lacrosse team fell to the defending Atlantic Sun (ASUN) Champions Jacksonville (JU) Dolphins, 24-3.
JU controlled the tempo throughout, limiting the Bison to only four shots.
Senior
Natia Warren led the attack, scoring twice on 67-percent (2-of-3). Newcomer
Jillian Jones contributed a goal in the first half.
After intermission, Warren scored her 32
nd goal on the year at the 25:02 mark, 17-3. From that point on, the Dolphins tallied seven unanswered goals, 24-3.
Senior
Amerra Sheckles tied a season-best 18 saves in a losing effort.
Jacksonville registered the first four goals of the match until Jones ended HU's drought at the 22.14 mark, 4-1.
JU, one of the nation's top scoring teams, caught fire with 12 unanswered, 16-1.
With under three remaining until halftime, Warren gave Howard momentum with an unassisted goal before the break, 16-2.
Jacksonville (10-3, 3-0 ASUN) remains undefeated in conference play after seeing 15 Dolphins score. Emma Widsom and Ashtyn Hiron led the way with a match-high four goals in the victory.
Sunday, HU (1-8, 0-3 ASUN) concludes its four-match road swing at Stetson. The action starts at noon.
