WASHINGTON (March 15, 2018) – Senior
Natia Warren pulled the Howard University Women's Lacrosse team within one, 5-4, at the 12:26 mark in the first half, but the Butler Bulldogs scored seven unanswered to down HU, 16-7, at Greene Stadium.
Warren finished with a match-high five goals on 11 shots. Freshman
Jillian Jones registered two goals while fellow classmate
Lailah Robey added an assist in a losing effort.
After ending the first half on a 4-0 run, Butler started the second half scoring the first three goals until Warren ended the Bison's drought, 12-5.
Butler outscored HU, 4-2, in the final 20 minutes.
Senior
Amerra Sheckles had a career-high 18 saves in the loss.
Butler earned its first win of the season after seven tries (1-7). Ashley Guerra and Haley Hallenbeck each recorded four goals in the win.
On March 29, the Bison continues its home stand with their conference opener versus Old Dominion. Match-time is scheduled for 1 p.m.
Two days later (March 31), Howard wraps up the home stand with Coastal Carolina. The action starts at noon.
