WASHINGTON (March 29, 2018) – Howard University Women's Lacrosse team fell in its Atlantic Sun (ASUN) opener against Old Dominion (ODU), 20-8, at Greene Stadium.
Freshman
Jillian Jones led the way with a season-high four goals while senior
Natia Warren added two in a losing effort.
After intermission, the Lady Monarchs generated five goals within five minutes and ballooned the lead to double-digits, 18-6.
Jones and Warren each scored in the second half, but Old Dominion would be too much at the end.
Newcomer
Lailah Robey also scored in the contest. Defensively, senior
Amerra Sheckles produced nine saves in the loss.
First-year midfielder
Tiffany Hunt tied the contest at the 21:57 mark in the first half, 3-3, but the Lady Monarchs scored six unanswered goals and took a commanding 9-3 advantage.
Howard fought back with a pair of goals, but ODU held a seven-goal lead at the break, 13-6.
ODU (2-7, 1-0 ASUN) registered a season-high 20 goals. Katie Miller had a team-best three goals in the victory.
HU (1-4, 0-1 ASUN) ends its three-match home stand versus Coastal Carolina. Saturday's showdown starts at noon.
