FARMVILLE, Va. (March 10, 2018) – After grabbing their first win Thursday (March 8), the Howard University Women's Lacrosse team fell to Coach
Karli Brentlinger's alma mater, Longwood, 19-5.
Four Bison scored in the contest, led by midfielder
Natia Warren with two goals.
Moments after intermission, freshman
Jillian Jones scored on an unassisted goal and cut the margin down to seven, 11-4, but the Lancers responded with eight unanswered and put the contest out of reach.
Defensively, goalkeeper
Amerra Sheckles had a match-best 12 saves in a losing effort.
Longwood began the match with a 9-0 run until Warren ended the Bison's drought at the 12:23 mark, 9-1.
In the final five minutes before halftime, senior
Tahirah Williams, who scored her first collegiate goal, and freshman
Tiffany Hunt helped HU
outscored the Lancers, 2-1, and trailed at the break, 10-3.
Longwood (3-4) was led by Riley Dolan and Madison Stair. Both Lancers scored three goals while Dolan added six assists in the victory.
Thursday (March 15), the Bison start a three-match home stand with Butler. Match time is set for 1 p.m.
