Cincinnati (December 21, 2018) --- Howard women's basketball team lost, 85-51, to the University of Cincinnati Bearcats today.
The Bison were able to gain an early, 7-2, lead before the Bearcats caught up and tied the game, 7-7, in the first period. It was all Cincinnati going forward. Howard did not have any additional leads for the rest of the game.
Junior
Sarah Edmond led the Bison with 13 points and four assists.
Ayonna Williams followed with 11 points and two rebounds.
Imani Bryant had nine rebounds and two steals.
The Bison shot 27.4 percent from the field and 65 percent at the free throw line.
The Bearcats were 54.7 percent from the field and 60 percent at the free throw line. Cincinnati had four of its players, IImari'I Thomas, Antoinette Miller, Nikira Goings and Angel Rizor, reach double-digit points. Thomas led both teams with her 23 points and 17 rebounds.
Howard now holds a 7-5 record. Cincinnati improved to 8-5.
The Bison will travel to the University of North Carolina (UNC) Chapel Hill on December 28 to face the Tar Heels at 2 p.m. The game against UNC will be the last non-conference game of the season. For more information visit, the Howard Athletics website at www.HUBison.com.
