Itta Bena, MS (October, 6, 2018) --- In its third straight shutout win, Howard women's soccer (5-6-1, 3-1-1 SWAC) defeated the Mississippi Valley State University (MVSU) Devilettes (3-8-2, 0-4-1 SWAC), 1-0 in the MVSU Soccer Complex.
With an assist from forward
Kenya Saunders, sophomore
Aleeya Sawyer made the sole goal of match at the 23rd minute mark. In addition to the assist, Saunders had two shots and one shot on goal.
Defensively, MVSU had seven saves to Howard's two. Howard outshot MVSU, 14-6. The Bison had a slight edge on corner kicks, posting just one more than the Devilettes. Once again, goalkeeper
Alayah Hightower allowed no goals and played in all 90 minutes of the game.
Freshman
Jordan Taylor had five shots and four shots on goal.
Thalia Boucher contributed three shots.
Kiara Flynn had two shots and one shot on goal. Senior
Kendall Hamilton had one shot and one shot on goal.
The Bison continue their conference play in Mississippi on Sunday. They travel to Lorman, MS to face Alcorn State University at noon.
