BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (September 29, 2017) – Howard Women's Soccer knocked off conference foe Mississippi Valley State (MVSU), 2-0, at Sicard Hollow Park. The contest was televised on the SWAC Digital Network.
 
HU took twice as many shots, 18-9, while taking a 13-1 advantage in corner kicks.
 
After a scoreless first half, newcomer Aleeya Sawyer scored the match's first goal at the 74-minute mark on a rebound, 1-0.
 
With less than three minutes remaining, Kela Gray assisted Sawyer with the insurance goal, 2-0.
 
Defensively, Gabrielle Emilien played over 70 minutes and allowed no goals. The Toronto native stopped five goals in the victory.
 
Sunday, the Bison take on Alcorn State in another conference matchup. Sunday afternoon's showdown versus the Braves starts noon (CT)/1 p.m. (ET).
