BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (October 1, 2017) – Howard Women's Soccer edged out Alcorn State, 1-0, and picked up its second straight victory in Birmingham, Ala.
With the win, HU improved to 4-7 (3-1 SWAC) on the season.
After a scoreless first half, senior
Kela Gray broke away and scored the contest's lone goal and propelled Howard to victory.
Overall, the Bison outshot Alcorn, 20-5.
Defensively,
Gabrielle Emilien notched her second consecutive shutout while blocking two shots in the victory.
HU travels back to Alabama for a pair of SWAC contests against ASU and Alabama A&M.
Friday's match against the Hornets begin 7 p.m. (CT)/8 p.m. (ET).
Sunday's contest against the Bulldogs start 1 p.m. (CT)/2 p.m. (ET).
