GRAMBLING, La. (September 24, 2017) – For nearly 80 minutes, Howard Women's Soccer team trailed the Grambling State (GSU) Tigers until a goal from senior
Kela Gray tied the contest with less than 15 minutes remaining.
With under 30 seconds left, GSU's Brittany Terry scored the game-winning goal off a long thrown in to down HU, 2-1.
Grambling State outshot Howard, 12-4. Four different Bison took an attempt, led by Gray's goal.
Defensively,
Gabrielle Emilien registered a match-high four saves in a losing effort.
GSU's Kaylee Holt scored the Tigers' first goal within 30 seconds of the match.
Conference play continues for Howard with matches against Mississippi Valley State (Sept. 29) and Alcorn State (Oct. 1).
Friday's showdown will be shown on the SWAC Digital Network. Match time is 7 p.m. (CT)/8 p.m. (ET). Sunday's contest starts 12 p.m. (CT)/1 p.m. (ET). Both matches take place in Birmingham, Ala.
