PINE BLUFF, Ark. (September 22, 2017) – Howard Women's Soccer team overcame an early deficit to knock off Arkansas Pine Bluff (UAPB) in their conference opener, 2-1.
Collectively, HU outshot the Golden Lions, 13-7, led by Itohan Nosegbe with three attempts.
Moments into the match, UAPB's Rebecca Holmes gave the Golden Lions an early 1-0 advantage.
Nearly 10 minutes later, an unassisted goal from
Kela Gray tied the contest, 1-1.
At the 32-minute mark,
Elexa Pierson provided the go-ahead goal as neither team scored after intermission.
Defensively,
Gabrielle Emilien played solid as she allowed no goals for the remaining 89 minutes of action.
Sunday, Howard closes out the road swing with Grambling State (GSU). The contest is scheduled for 1 p.m. (ET)
