FULLERTON, Calif. – Howard Volleyball fell in straight sets against the San Jose State Trojans, (21-25, 21-25, 16-25), at Titan Gym.
Khaila Donaldson and
Kira Porter each registered seven kills in the loss.
HU held an early advantage in the opening set, but the Spartans rallied to take game one, 25-21.
In game two, both squads were deadlocked at 11 until San Jose State created separation midway through to take a commanding 2-0 lead in the match, 25-21.
After being tied at 13, the Spartans took control and closed the match on a 12-3 spurt to seal the deal.
Tamia Dockery posted 23 assists while
Abby Morrow had a team-best 14 digs in a losing effort.
For the Spartans (4-1), Nandyala Gama and Fernanda Vido combined for 30 kills in the victory.
HU (1-5) closes the weekend against UC-Riverside tonight at 8 p.m. (PT)/11 p.m. (ET).
