Tamia Dockery each registering a double-double, the Howard Volleyball team suffered a road loss at UMBC (19-25, 25-27, 21-25).
Donaldson led the Bison attack with a team-high 11 kills while recording 11 digs. Dockery, reigning MEAC Setter of the Week, posted 31 assists and 14 digs in a losing effort.
Both squads had 12 kills each in set one; however, the Bison committed six more errors than the opposition. UMBC would take advantage to win set one, 19-25.
Howard racked up 17 kills in set two, but 12 errors would keep the Retrievers in the set. UMBC won set two in extras, 25-27.
HU hit a match-low .047 while the Retrievers eclipsed a .263 hitting percentage. Two costly attack errors at the end of set three would down Howard, 21-25.
Courtney Dalton produced 10 kills while
Jurnee Tipton provided a team-best 14 digs in the loss.
For UMBC (8-6), Carmen Freeman and Abbie Mirabella each had 10 kills while Krystia Negron manufactured 36 assists in the victory.
Wednesday, HU host Zhejiang China Volleyball Club in an exhibition. First serves is set for 7 p.m.
