WASHINGTON, D.C. - Stetson scored 15 first-half goals, including five on free positions, while totaling 22 shots and forcing 13 turnovers as the Hatters posted a 21-3 victory over the Howard women's lacrosse team in Atlantic Sun Conference action Friday at Greene Stadium.

The Bison (0-4, 0-2 ASUN) were led by junior Natia Warren who had a goal, four ground balls, five draw controls and one caused turnover. Junior Amerra Sheckles, who entered the game ranked fourth in the nation in saves per game, had six on Friday, four of which came in the first half.

The Hatters scored just 10 seconds into the game when Maddie Holvey won the opening draw and found Sam Maguire in front of the crease for the first of her four goals on the afternoon. The two combined for 11 points with Holvey totaling two goals and five assists.

A total of 12 players scored for Stetson, five of which had three or more points.

Trailing 9-0, Howard ended its scoreless streak with back-to-back goals from junior Ashley Duncan and Warren with 12:21 and 11:02 remaining, respectively.

However, the Hatters (1-8, 1-1 ASUN) scored the final six goals of the half, including the next two just 15 seconds apart, to take a 15-2 halftime lead.

Howard junior Asiyah Frank opened the second-half scoring with her team-leading sixth goal of the season, but six different Hatters scored over the last 21-plus minutes to provide the final margin of victory.

Frank finished the game with one goal, one ground ball, one draw control and one caused turnover. Sophomore Natalie Payne added three ground balls and two caused turnovers.

The Bison return to action on Sunday when they welcome Jacksonville to Greene Stadium for an ASUN contest beginning at 11:00 a.m.
