WASHINGTON, D.C. - Howard women's lacrosse senior
Amerra Sheckles made a career-high 14 saves, but Jacksonville scored the game's first 22 goals en route to a 25-2 Atlantic Sun Conference victory over the Bison Sunday at Greene Stadium.
Howard (0-5, 0-3 ASUN) was led offensively by junior
Natia Warren who scored her team-leading seventh goal of the season while adding four ground balls and three draw controls.
Senior
Taylor Purks also scored for the Bison, scoring on a one-timer in front of the crease off a feed from junior
Ashley Duncan behind the net. Duncan finished with one assist, three ground balls, four draw controls and one caused turnover.
Sheckles totaled 10 or more saves for the third time in four games this season. Her 14 saves were the most by a Bison since
Jasmine Wilson had 14 at Bucknell on Apr. 1, 2014. Sheckles entered this weekend ranked fourth in Division I at 11.50 saves per game.
A total of 13 players scored for Jacksonville (6-4, 3-0 ASUN), led by the ASUN's all-time leader in points and goal, Danielle Della Rocca, who had four goals. She was one of five Dolphins to score three or more goals. Jamie Chapman led the team with six points, including four assists, while Courtney Valdez also had four assists and finished with five points.
Jacksonville has now won 27 consecutive ASUN games.
Howard begins a four game road trip on Friday, April 7 when it travels to Mercer for an ASUN contest beginning at 5:00 p.m., in Macon, Georgia.
