CLEVELAND (December 22, 2017) – Phil Steele, nationally known as one of the best football analyst in the entire country, announced his 2017 FCS All-Conference Teams where Howard University secured six Bison. The announcement came Wednesday.
Knight's superior knowledge of the game has landed him on the voting committee for every major post season award, including the prestigious Heisman Trophy.
Seniors
Anthony Philyaw and
Gerald Wright and sophomore
Jequez Ezzard earned first team honors while freshmen
Caylin Newton and
Bryan Cook and sophomore
Kyle Anthony made second team.
All six student-athletes were also selected to the All-MEAC Teams after the season and multiple Bison received other postseason recognition.
Wednesday (Dec. 20), Wright was named to the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) Coaches' All-America Second Team.
On Dec. 7, Newton won the 2017 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Offensive Rookie of the Year award while Wright earned a spot on the All-ECAC Second Team.
Before the regular season ended, Anthony was acknowledged for his hard work and dedication inside the classroom as he was named to the conference's football All-Academic Team.
On Jan 20, 2018, Philyaw will represent HU at the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl in Pasadena, Calif.

HU finished the regular season with a 7-4 overall record and 6-2 in league play and placed second in the conference standings.
