BURLINGTON, Vt. (November 17, 2017) – Howard University Women's Basketball team fell on the road at Vermont, 88-65.
Freshman
Curstyn Moore had a team-high 12 points while grabbing eight boards in 32 minutes of action. Fellow classmate
Tariah Johnson netted 11 points off the bench.
In the second period, freshman
Jayla Thornton connected on a trey ball and sliced the deficit down to single digits, 33-24, at the 7:40 mark.
From that point on, the Catamounts outscored HU, 18-6, and took a commanding 51-33 lead into the break.
Sophomore
Jayla Myles registered 10 points and six rebounds in the loss.
In the fourth, Howard trimmed the margin as low as 14 after a layup from Myles, 78-62, but the Catamounts kept the Bison at bay.
For Vermont (2-2), Hanna Crymble recorded a double-double with 37 points and 13 boards. Sydney Smith and Cassidy Derda each added 16 points in the victory.
HU's road trip continues at No. 15 Maryland. Tipoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. at the XFINITY Center.
