WASHINGTON (November 10, 2017) – In their final regular season match, Coach
Shaun Kupferberg and the Howard University Women's Volleyball team dropped its match versus the Morgan State Lady Bears in five (26-28, 25-27, 25-22, 25-14, 15-17).
Before Friday's match, Howard honored three seniors for their dedication and service to HU Athletics: Khaila Donaldson; Jessica Young; and Carlise Cardoza.
In her final match at The Burr, Donaldson posted a double-double with 23 kills and 16 digs. Cardoza provided a match-high 28 digs in the loss.
After dropping the first two sets, HU rebounded and claimed sets three and four.
Both squads went back-and-forth in the fifth and deciding set until back-to-back kills from Morgan State's Keana Brown and Natashia Baker would down HU.
Newcomer Christian Patton came in and registered 53 assists and four digs in a losing effort.
For Morgan State (6-17, 5-5 MEAC), three Lady Bears produced a double-double: Natashia Barker; Cristen Coryatt; and Roi Wallace.
HU goes to Princess Anne, Md. for the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Tournament (Nov. 9-12). The three-day event will take place at the William P. Hytche Athletic Center.
