PRINCESS ANNE, Md. (November 17, 2017) – Coach
Shaun Kupferberg and the Howard University Women's Volleyball team began its quest for a third straight Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) volleyball title Friday with a 3-0 (25-21, 25-22, 25-19) win over North Carolina A&T State at the W.P. Hytche Athletic Center.
Senior Khaila Donaldson, the MEAC Player of the Year, led the Bison with 14 kills and nine digs. Tamia Dockery, MEAC All-Conference Second Team selection, recorded a double-double with 35 assists and 12 digs.
"We knew (NCAT) would be a solid team based on the film," Kupferberg said. "They have a good all-around game and some great freshmen."
Howard (14-15) controlled much of the first set en route to the 25-21 win, but in the second set, the Aggies jumped out to a 14-9 lead following a Samara Brown kill. HU responded by scoring eight in a row, taking a 17-14 lead and seizing control again to take set two.
NCAT led near the midpoint of the third set, going up 13-11 before Howard went on a run to take a 17-14 lead. That run eventually would give the Bison control of the set and the match.
Howard will take on rival Hampton in Saturday's semifinal round at 3:30 p.m.
