WASHINGTON (October 15, 2017) – Coach
Brent Leiba and the Howard University Women's Soccer team downed the Jackson State Tigers in double overtime, 2-1, at Greene Stadium. After today's victory, the Bison are riding a three-match winning streak.
At the 22-minute mark, junior
Makela Davidson scored the first goal with an assist from senior
Kela Gray, 1-0.
With less than five minutes remaining, Jackson State tied and forced the match into extras after a penalty kick goal by Patricia Calderon, 1-1.
After 10 minutes of extra play, senior
Noelle McCullom delivered the game-winning goal in the second overtime, thanks to an assist from fellow classmate
Alexia Moore, 2-1.
Defensively, senior
Gabrielle Emilien recorded five saves in the victory.
HU (7-8, 6-2 SWAC) concludes nonconference play when Yale comes to town. Wednesday night's showdown starts 7 p.m. at Greene Stadium.
