Te'Shya Heslip has been named the Mid Eastern Athletic Conference Player of the Week after her outstanding performance in recent wins over Hampton University and Coppin State.
A 5-2 red-shirt junior guard from Dumfries, VA recorded her first triple double of 22 points and 16 rebounds and 11 assists, which are both career highs. Heslip scored her team's last four points in overtime to pull out the 83-77 win over Hampton.
The talented guard came right back on Saturday to score 19 points, grab 8 rebounds, deal out six assists and pick up four steals in the win over Coppin State. Again, it was Heslip making the difference, scoring the game-winning basket in the 71-69.
Also cited for honorable mention was junior forward Sydney Johnson, who averaged 12.0 points, 7.5 rebounds and 2.0 steals while going a perfect 7 for from the free throw line in victories over Hampton and Coppin State. The native of Homewood, IL had a double double of 13 points and 10 rebounds and also had three steals against the Lady Eagles.
