WASHINGTON, DC --- The home opener for the Howard men's soccer team had a promising start and a disappointing end as the Bison scored first but ultimately lost 2-1 to the Liberty University Flames on Tuesday afternoon at Greene Stadium.
FAST FACTS - HOWARD (0-6) VS LIBERTY (3-3)- Howard opened up the game by getting a pair of shot opportunities and a corner kick within the first 15 minutes.
- However, things turned against the Bison when graduate goalkeeper
Sam Howard was given a red card and ejected after colliding with a Liberty player while attempting to make a save.
- Despite the card forcing junior keeper
Jordan Austin into his first action of the season, the Bison were able to continue their strong play until sophomore defender
Isaac Mbappe scored HU's first home goal (31') this year and his first of the season.
- The Bison were only able to enjoy its second lead of the season for under a minute as Liberty's Nico Bellarde headed home the equalizer (32') off a Kurt Meyers free kick.
