WASHINGTON, DC --- Playing its second home game in as many days to open the season, the Howard women's lacrosse team fell to the visiting Robert Morris University Colonials 24-5 on Saturday afternoon at Greene Stadium.
Howard (0-2) got a pair of goals from senior
Jaymie Cox and solo tallies from senior
Michaela Jupiter, junior
Nychol Stephens, and freshman
Aria Williams. Stephens got Howard on the board with a free position shot with 20 minutes left in the first half to cut their deficit to Robert Morris (2-1) to 3-1.
RMU would tack on six straight goals before Cox would score back-to-back unassisted points to make the score 9-3 at the 11:34 mark.
Jupiter would score the final goal of the first period on an assist from Williams - the team's first of the year - to make the halftime score 14-4.
Williams would get her goal on the board at the 25:19 mark of the second to make the score 15-5 before Robert Morris ended the game on a 9-0 run.
The Colonials were led by Kristin Yoviene's six points (four goals, two assists), Brittany Byerly (four goals, assist) and Corey Karwacki (two goals, four assists).
NEXT UP: Howard will play its first road match of the season with a matchup against Delaware State. First draw is scheduled for 4 p.m.
