CHARLESTON, SC --- In the second day of the three-day Charleston Southern Tournament, the Howard softball team found itself on the losing end of a pair of games against the University of Delaware and the University of Toledo.HOWARD 6, DELAWARE 11The Lady Bison dropped their second game in a row as the team struggled out of the gate. Howard gave up five runs to Delaware in the first inning which, along with UD's four runs in the third, mark the sixth time in five games that the Lady Bison have given up four or more runs in an inning. By contrast, the Lady Bison have achieved the feat only once. The five runs came courtesty of four UD hits and three Howard errors.
Howard was able to get some of the runs back each time, as they posted two and three runs in the first and third innings, respectively.
In the first, sophomore
Imani Ballard reached on a one-out fielder's choice that drove in senior
Al'Asia Davis and sophomore
Milan Poindexter executed on the business end of a double steal with senior Jenny Jy by stealing home.
HU opened their scoring in the third with a two-run RBI double by Poindexter to bring Ballard and sophomore
Alex Flynn home. The next at-bat saw Ly reach first on a muffed throw - enough to allow Poindexter to score from second.
Both teams would score in the fourth, with Howard taking advantage of a throwing error that brought redshirt junior
Jasmine Gammons in after a sacrifice bunt by Davis.
UD would set the final score with a RBI single in the sixth inning.

HOWARD 8, TOLEDOIn a rematch of yesterday's opening matchup (
an 8-1 win by Howard), the Lady Bison nearly rallied in the seventh after finding themselves down by four runs at two points in the game.
Trailing 10-6 going into the final inning, Howard opened the seventh with a pair of singles from Ballard and Poindexter. Ly would fly out before sophomore
Alexa Walker drilled a RBI double to right field to bring in Ballard (10-7). Sophomore
Rejanae Brooks entered the game for freshman
Brooklyn Emory but struck out swinging.
Gammons came to the plate with two outs and reached on an error by Toledo's pitcher that allowed Poindexter to score. Unfortunately, Alexa would try to score from home on the error after advancing to third and was thrown out to end the game.
