WASHINGTON, DC --- Sophomore outside hitter
Khaila Donaldson's eighth double-double of the season helped propel the Howard women's volleyball team to a 3-0 (25-12, 25-15, 25-18) sweep of the reigning Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) champion Hampton University Lady Pirates Friday evening in Burr Gymnasium.
The win was the Bison's first in the opening match of a five-match homestand.
Donaldson finished the match with 12 kills (best among all players) and 10 digs to record her fourth double-double in her last six matches. Donaldson also easily set a new team-high and career-best for hitting percentage with her .550 mark during the match (12-1-20).
The victory placed Howard (7-13, 4-1 MEAC) alone in first place in the Northern division. HU's win also gave the Bison its second win over Hampton (0-17, 0-4 MEAC) in their last three meetings after losing 13 straight matches from 2009 to 2014 - with both triumphs coming at "The Burr."
