Women's Soccer Falls To District Rival American

Box Score WASHINGTON, DC --- The Howard women's soccer failed in its bid to win its first game of the season as the Lady Bison fell to District rival American University, 3-0, on Wednesday afternoon.

Sophomore midfielder Sara Vaughan led Howard with a pair of shots and senior goalkeeper Kyra Dickinson made seven saves in the game.

Howard (0-4-1) struggled to contain the offense of American (3-4-0), who managed to take 30 total shots and put 11 on goal. By comparison, Howard only took five second half shots (two on goal).

The Eagles were led by upperclassmen Lindsay Muri and Kelly Donovan - Muri, a senior, and Donovan, a junior, were involved in each of American's goals. Muri scored two goals and assisted on the other while Donovan did the opposite.

Howard returns to action on Sunday, September 14 when the Lady Bison welcome East Tennessee State to Greene Stadium for a 1 p.m. matchup.
