WASHINGTON, DC --- Howard Track and Field athletes
Matthew Colvin and
Rajae Gayle have been named to the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Outdoor Track All-Academic team.
The pair are part of a select group of 496 young men from 165 institutions who earned USTFCCCA All-Academic honors.
To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team, a student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 and have met at least one of the following athletic standards:
- For the indoor season, a student-athlete must have finished the regular season ranked in the national top 96 in an individual event or ranked in the national top 48 (collective listing) in a relay event on the official NCAA POP list provided by TFRRS.org;
- For the outdoor season, a student-athlete must have participated in any round of the NCAA Division I Championships (including preliminary rounds).
"These young men are exemplary Bison student-thletes and I am proud to coach such stellar individuals," said Howard Track and Field Head Coach
Marc Harrison. "Matthew is a two-sport athlete (Football) for Howard and Rajae is a MEAC Champion. It is great to see them recognized for their excellence in the classroom and in their respective events. It is a great honor for Howard University."
