GAME NOTESLIVE STATS (UVA)RADIO (UVA)CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA --- Playing in its final game before the Christmas holiday, the Howard women's basketball team (1-10) will look to break its two-game losing streak when the Lady Bison take on the University of Virginia Cavaliers (8-2) at 6 p.m.
After winning its first game on December 8 at home against North Carolina Central (70-65), Howard has dropped a road contest against LIU Brooklyn (74-83) and a home game against Temple (48-78).
UVA enters the game on a three game home winning, having bested fellow MEAC member Delaware State, Longwood and Howard common opponent Saint Mary's.
Although the team has struggled this season, it has not been for lack of effort. Redshirt sophomore guard
Te'Shya Heslip (16.5 PPG, 5.1 RPG, 5.4 APG) continues to be the lynchpin of the Howard offense, leading the team in all three categories. Senior forward
Cheyenne Brown (11.3 PPG) and sophomore forward
Sydni Johnson (10.4) have helped shoulder the load for Heslip and the trio hopes their play can translate into an impressive win against the Cavaliers.
