Bison Split In Final Day of DC Volleyball Challenge

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Washington, DC --- In the final day of action in the DC Volleyball Challenge, the Howard University Volleyball team split its two games against George Mason University and Georgetown University at American University's Bender Arena.

HOWARD 3, GMU 0

In Howard's (1-1) first game against George Mason (0-2), the Lady Bison displayed great toughness and aggression in route to a 3-0 sweep over the Generals, 31-29, 27-25, 27-25. Junior setter Stephanie Shultis recorded 30 of the team's 33 assists, while junior libero Allyson Lods paced the team with 22 digs. Freshman outside hitters Katherine Broussard (10 kills) and Dominique Cleggett (8 kills) combined for nearly half of the team's kills in the match. Broussard also added 15 digs in the game.

HOWARD 1, GT 3

After playing the last game of the early session, HU (1-3) returned to the court for the first game of the evening doubleheader and fell to Georgetown, 25-20, 25-20, 25-10, 26-24. Lods once again led the team in digs, notching 28 against the Hoyas (2-1) en route to being named to the Challenge All-Tournament Team. The 28 digs for Lods were the second most in school history.

Howard will play its home opener on Wednesday, September 4 at Burr Gymnasium. First serve is scheduled for 7:00 PM.
