NORFOLK, Va. (October 5, 2026) – The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) uncovered its women's volleyball weekly awards where Howard University freshman standout
Addison Buckner (Menomonee Falls, Wisc.) took home the league's Rookie of the Week honor. The announcement came Monday afternoon.
Buckner led HU to a perfect 2-0 week, knocking off Delaware State (Oct. 1) and Maryland Eastern Shore (Oct. 4). After flirting with a double-double versus the Hornets (nine kills & eight digs), she notched her second-career double-double (19 kills & 14 digs) against the Hawks.
Currently, Buckner ranks fifth in the MEAC with 3.00 kills per set.
Norfolk State senior Gabrielle Gilbert won MEAC Player of the Week while Coppin State duo of Eva Rovello and Coco Figueroa earned Setter of the Week and Defensive Player of the Week, respectively.
The Bison return home Friday, Oct. 9, hosting North Carolina Central at 6 p.m., for their Breast Cancer Awareness game.
