BALTIMORE, MD --- On Saturday afternoon, the Howard Bison swimmers traveled to Baltimore for a matchup with the Loyola Greyhounds. Competing for the second time in three days, the Bison notched 18 season-best swims against the host Greyhounds, along with three meet victories and a new addition to the Bison All-time Top Ten list.
On the scoreboard, the women fell to the Lady Greyhounds 122-58 and the men lost to Loyola 121-79.
Three men reached the wall with first place finishes on the afternoon. Junior
Miles Hector (Omaha, NE) took first place for the first time this season in the 1000-yard freestyle with his time of 10:59.31. Fellow junior
Benjamin Skelding (Palmdale, CA) swam his best time of the season in the 200-yard backstroke earning his fourth victory in of the year with a winning mark of 2:04.27.
Freshman Jared Miller (Washington, DC) earned his fourth victory of the season while making some history in the process. His first place time of 1:46.33 in the 200-yard freestyle places him in sixth place all-time in HU history for the event.
Senior
Ashley Douglas (Missouri City, TX) notched the highest places for the Lady Bison. In the 100-yard freestyle, Douglas posted a 57.55, good for third place. Douglas led-off the 200-yard freestyle relay, giving way to fellow senior
Janai Ederaine (Corona, CA) and freshmen
Ayana Cox (Atlantic City, NJ) and
Sydney Cooper (West Greenwich, RI) for a third place, finishing time of 1:40.98.
The Bison will next be in action on Saturday, November 16 when they host their first home meet against Mary Washington and Mount Saint Mary's.
