Richard Hall enters his fifth season at Howard University as a coach on Shaun Kupferberg’s staff after coaching together for four years at Jacksonville University.

His duties include assisting in practice drills and skills, serving as team serve-receive and serving coordinator while also scouting opposing teams.

Prior to Howard, Hall was an assistant coach for Jacksonville University from 2008-2011 where he helped lead the Dolphins to their best record in school history. Before joining Kupferberg at Jacksonville, Hall assisted with the University of North Florida from 1996-2007 and helped with the program’s transition to Division I after dominating the Division II ranks.

During that time, the Ospreys earned a berth in the NCAA Division II Tournament in seven out of eight years while winning the Peach Belt Conference title in all eight seasons. He also coached nine All-America honorees, 14 all-South Region selections, 24 all-conference players, six conference players of the year and four freshmen of the year.

While with the women’s team, Hall also served as head coach for the UNF men’s club team from 1999-2003.

As a player, Hall was a member of the Tidewater Volleyball Association from 1990-96. He earned his bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Old Dominion in 1989 before getting his master’s in electrical and computer engineering at University of Florida in 2006.

A member of USA Volleyball (USAV) and American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA), Hall earned USA CAP Level II certification in 1995.
