Donnie Stith

In 2018, Donnie Stith was hired as Howard University women’s basketball assistant coach.

In the 2021-22 season, the Bison won their first MEAC Tournament Title since 2001; thus, securing a berth to the NCAA Tournament. In the inaugural First Four Round, Howard defeated Incarnate Word and earned the program's first NCAA Tournament victory. Destiny Howell (All-MEAC), Anzhane' Hutton (All-MEAC, All-Defensive) and Iyanna Warren (All-MEAC) each grabbed conference postseason honors.

During the 2020-21 campaign, the Bison finished 15-4 overall and 10-2 in conference play taking home the Northern Division Title. The program took home player of the year (Jayla Thornton) and rookie of the year (Anzhane' Hutton). Also receiving honors Guard Iyanna Warren (All-MEAC), Kaiya Creek (All-Rookie), Hutton (All-MEAC, All-Defensive, All-Rookie), Thornton (All-MEAC). Additionally, she was named 2020-21 MEAC Coach of the Year, after leading her squad to a MEAC Northern Division Title and a trip to the MEAC tournament final.

During the 2019-20 campaign, the Bison went 16-15 overall while securing their third winning season in four years. Howard reached the MEAC Quarterfinals for the second consecutive year after defeating South Carolina State in the opening round. Guards Ayonna Williams (All-MEAC) and Jayla Thornton (All-MEAC) received league postseason honors.

In the 2018-19 season, Howard secured an 18-13 record (10-6 MEAC). Along the way, Stith saw four Bison earn conference postseason honors: Sarah Edmond (All-MEAC); Krislyn Marsh (All-Rookie); Jayla Thornton (All-MEAC) and Ayonna Williams (All-MEAC).

Previously, Stith was the head coach at the Boo Williams Summer League in Virginia Beach, Virginia. He was responsible for developing and communicating goals that encourage athletic, academic and personal growth of individuals and the team throughout the summer and Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) season.

Prior to Boo Williams Summer League, he was the girls varsity basketball head coach at Salem High School after being promoted from being the boys varsity assistant coach. There he organized detailed scouting reports for players and coaching staff, led practice and game preparation, on court and film breakdown, and implemented a study hall program for pre-season, mid-season and post-season. Stith found much success coaching the Sun Devils. He was named the 2015-2016 Virginia High School League (VHSL) Conference 9 Coach of the Year and guided the squad to a VHSL Division 5 Regional Championship a year later.

Before coaching, Stith had an extensive basketball career of his own playing on both a Division 1 collegiate level and internationally. He was a forward on the Tulane University team under the tutelage of head coach Dave Dickerson. Stith appeared in 118 games as a Green Wave, playing over 2,600 minutes and accumulating over 740 points, 550 rebounds and 141 blocks.

Stith then took his talents abroad. He played with the Dornbirn Lions in Austria, where he was on the 2nd Division Regional Championship team. Additonally, he played with the UCD Marian, leading the Irish Superleague club in scoring with 17.8 points per game.

Stith is a Tulane University graduate, earning his Bachelor of Arts degree in Media Arts in 2008.
