Â
Prior to CSU, Monroe-Gaskins spent eight seasons as an assistant coach at her alma mater, Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES), including the 2023-24 campaign as the associate head coach. After her first season as a volunteer, she worked her way up to a full-time assistant role during the 2017-18 season.
Â
At UMES, her primary coaching responsibility was with the guards while serving as the team's travel coordinator, along with scouting, recruiting and evaluating talent. She also directed the Hawks' Basketball Academy summer camp for kids ages 7-17.

The Eastern Shore native also ranks fourth in total assists (296) and total steals (188) and the program's all-time leader in games played (116).
Â
As a freshman during the 2007-08 season, Morton was named the MEAC (Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) Rookie of the Year while earning All-Rookie Team accolades. In her senior season, she was named All-MEAC Second Team.
Â
In high school, she scored over 2,500 career points at Mardela and named conference player of the year as a senior. She was selected to the Bayside First Team and Warriors' Most Valuable Player (MVP) all four years while guiding her squad to four consecutive regular season and Bayside Championships in that same time span.

A native of Salisbury, Md., Monroe-Gaskins graduated from UMES in 2011. Monroe-Gaskin's has one son, Sebastian.
