In 2020, George Odiong joined the Howard University Tennis program as a volunteer coach. One year later, he accepted the position as the program's assistant coach.

Odiong is a USTA/PTR certified High Performance coach with over 20 years of on court coaching experience. 

Odiong played in the USTA adult league as a 4.5/5.0 player for several teams around the DMV.

He started working actively with junior players at Spotswood Country Club (Harrisonburg, Va.); Sportfit (Bowie, Md.); JTCC (College Park, Md.) and Jack Shore Tennis at Bullis. 
 
In 2004, Odiong had the privilege of being at the Nick Bollettieri Tennis Academy (now IMG Academy) where he saw world class coaches working with world class players and was inspired to go the high performance route.

Odiong has been a PTR professional certified coach since 2000. With a big thanks to the USTA High Performance Program, he became a USTA certified HP coach in 2008 and has been attending many continuous education programs, such as the US Open (2009 & 2017), FedCup {USA v Russia} in Alabama (2010), World Coaches Conferences in Port Galeb, Egypt (2011), Online (2021) and several other coaches workshops.
 
Odiong returned to his home country in 2012 where he worked with the Nigerian Tennis Federation in various capacities as coach to several top male and female players while conducting coaching clinics for the young coaches. He returned to his alma mater as head coach men/women’s tennis. He returned to the USA in 2017, resuming at JTCC.
 
After 18 months with JTCC, he branched out on his own where he is the Head Pro at George Odiong Tennis as well as the Tennis Director at Avenel Swim and Tennis club (Potomac, Md.).
 
Originally from Nigeria, Odiong has a B.Ed. degree in Physical/Health Education. He is a multi-talented athlete who plays all the racket sports, volleyball, track and soccer, which he played professionally. He only plays one sport now - golf with a singles digit handicap.
 
Odiong is a resident of Bowie in Prince George’s County Maryland. He is married to his cuddles, Vivian, and they are blessed with four amazing student athletes: Immanuella - 21, Frostburg State; Dumebi - 19, Clark Atlanta; Beulah - 17 Flowers HS and Joshua - 14, Flowers HS.
