In Spring 2015, Matthew Arrington was brought on staff where he coached Kyle Celestine to All-Conference honors. Fall 2017, Arrington was fortunate enough to help Goalkeeper Carlos Caro earn All-Sun Belt Tournament honors, and repeated that again in 2018, where Victor Guirma, Joel Cunningham, and Carlos Caro all earned All-Conference honors.
In 2017, Howard reached the Sun Belt (SBC) Semifinals while seeing Kyle Celestine and Carlos Caro made the SBC All-Tournament Team. Academically, 20 Bison were named to the Sun Belt Academic Commissioner's and Honor Roll lists while winning the conference's academic team award. Also, 15 student-athletes were named to the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Commissioner's All-Academic Team.
In 2016, he saw Kenneth Hersey earn Sun Belt All-Tournament recognition.
Arrington is a DMV local, growing up in Bethesda, Md. and currently residing in Kensington, Md. Arrington grew up playing club soccer for Olney Soccer Club, as well as, Bethesda Soccer Club. Attending high school at Walt Whitman in Bethesda, Md., he was a team captain and three-year varsity letter winner. During his varsity career, Arrington garnered All-County, All-State, and All-Met nods as a Center Back for the Vikings.
After high school, Arrington played two seasons at George Mason University where the team earned a ranking of #20 in the nation during his freshman year after winning nine consecutive matches. George Mason reached the finals of the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Championships before falling to Hofstra in a penalty kick shootout but moved on to the NCAA Tournament as an at-large selection, the first time the Patriots reached the tournament in 10 years.
From college, Arrington pursued a playing career in Europe, going on trial with several teams in Switzerland and Italy's Serie B, C, and D, including Arezzo (Serie C), Cavesse (Serie C), and Avellino (Serie B). Arrington eventually signed with San Paolo Ostiense and, thereafter, Cecchina Calcio. In his first season with San Paolo Ostiense, Arrington was the team's leading scorer and helped the team earn a third-place finish in the league.
Arrington currently holds his USSF 'B' License and USC Advanced National Diploma. He also runs his own company, Arrington Training & Development, based out of Rockville, MD, where he also resides.
