In 2021, Yahya Thabit joined the Howard University men’s basketball program as the director of basketball operations.
Thabit is an experienced attorney in the areas of civil litigation, contract law, and administrative procedure. Thabit has been recognized on Super Lawyers’ Rising Stars list in Maryland for three consecutive years (2019-2021). His legal career includes judicial clerkship experience in Maryland Circuit Court.
Before his arrival at Howard, Thabit served as legal operations intern at the Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL), Canada’s pre-eminent professional basketball league. Thabit was previously a scout for Jim Clibanoff, now VP of scouting for the Denver Nuggets, for two seasons, and overall has three years of scouting experience.
Thabit graduated with a bachelor’s degree from York University in Toronto, Canada, and a juris doctor (JD) from University of the District of Columbia, an Historically Black College and University (HBCU). Thabit is currently completing a masters in Sports Industry Management at Georgetown University.
