Letter to Alumni and Supporters
Dear Howard University Softball Fans and Supporters, I hope this message finds you in good health and high spirits. As we gear up for an exciting season ahead. I wanted to take a moment to share the current state of our beloved Howard University Softball Program and discuss an exciting opportunity that will significantly impact our team's performance.
Over the past seasons, our Bison softball team has demonstrated unparalleled success on and off the field. Since 2018 our athletes have only had 2 full seasons and with that, we have brought home a MEAC Championship and a 3rd place finish. Howard softball has led the conference in batting average since 2018 and is responsible for some of the conference's most prolific athletes. Our program's athletes, coaches, and support staff have worked tirelessly to elevate our program to new heights, and I am proud to witness their growth both on and off the
field.
However, as we aim for even greater success, we continue to face unique challenges with no easily accessible home field or batting cages on campus. This year the renovations in Burr Gymnasium, while a necessary and positive development for our overall athletic facilities, will permanently remove our access to reliable indoor training space during the winter months.
Recognizing the critical role that quality training plays in our team's success, we are reaching out to you, our dedicated fanbase, alumni and friends of the program for support. We have identified an incredible opportunity to conduct our spring training in Southern California, where we can benefit from optimal weather conditions and world-class training facilities.
And while we know this does not provide a permanent solution; this strategic move will not only ensure that our athletes receive the top-notch training they deserve but will also give us a competitive edge as we strive for an- other championship in this upcoming season. Conducting our spring training in Southern California will remove an enormous amount of pressure off our athletes from driving around to different facilities and give them a solid week of consistent, stress-free training.
To make this vision a reality. we are launching a fundraising campaign and inviting you to be an integral part of our journey. Your generous donations will directly support travel expenses, hotel, food and transportation during this crucial period for our team.
