Biography

Vanessa Udoji joins the Bison after a four-year stint with Quinnipiac University.

Career Stats

2021-22 [Grad Student]: Played in 30 games and made four starts … Averaged 3.0 points and 2.0 rebounds per game … Both of her double-digit scoring games were against Delaware State (scored 14 points on Feb. 7 and a season-high 15 points on Feb. 12) … Had a season-best seven rebounds against South Carolina State on Feb. 28 … She helped Howard win 21 games, the MEAC tournament championship, and earn its first NCAA Tournament victory in program history with a win over Incarnate Word … The MEAC tournament championship was Howard’s 11th in program history and first since 2001.

As a sophomore in 2017-18: 
  • Started first six games before being lost for the season with an injury
  • Averaged 8.3 points over her six games
  • Scored 14 points in back-to-back wins over Northern Colorado (11/22) and Dayton (11/28)
  • Led the Bobcats in scoring in the Northern Colorado game, scoring 12 of her points in the second half
  • Also had 12 second-half points in the Dayton win.

As a first-year student in 2016-17:
  • Played in 26 games (five starts)
  • Averaged 3.2 points (37.8 FG%, 78.6 FT%), 1.3 rebounds and 0.6 steals in 8.4 minutes per game
  • Flashed ability with averages of 9.5 points (44.7 FG%, 88.9 FT%), 3.7 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 1.7 steals in 20.3 minutes per game across the six games in which she either started or played at least 15 minutes
  • In her first collegiate start, she posted 16 points (4-7 FG, 2-5 3FG, 6-6 FT) with seven rebounds and two steals in 25 minutes against Saint Peter’s (12/1)
  • Followed that with another solid effort with 13 points (6-9 FG), three rebounds, two assists and five steals against Siena (12/3)
  • Grabbed five rebounds with two assists against Michigan State (12/6)
  • Scored five points with three rebounds at Hartford (12/10)
  • Recorded eight points, two rebounds and three steals against Saint Peter’s (1/2)

Prior to Quinnipiac:
  • Graduated from Northfield Mount Hermon High School with four varsity letters
  • Ranked as the 18th-best wing player (90 overall rating) in the country according to ESPN’s recruiting ranking list
  • Explosive athletic perimeter threat, Udoji has the all-around skill and versatility Coach Fabbri will utilize in her offensive system
  • Helped lead Northfield Mount Hermon to a state championship, defeating Taft 66-35 while scoring 28 points in her final game of her senior year
  • Graduated as the all-time leading scorer (men’s and women’s) at Northfield Mount Vernon with 1,540 points
  • Averaged 20.3 points, 5.1 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 2.3 steals in 30 minutes per game in her senior year
  • Udoji reached the 1,000-point plateau in her junior season and posted a great campaign with averages of 15.1 points, 4.7 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 3.2 steals in her 26-game junior year
  • Three-time NEPSAC Class A All-Star (2013-14, 2014-15, 2015-16)
  • Long-time member of the New England Crusaders AAU program, Udoji was the driving force for the Crusaders as they advanced into the Nike National Championships held in Augusta, Georgia during the summer of 2015
  • Continued a decorated career at the AAU level, earning the Rose Classic Prep Jam 2016 Most Valuable Player honor
  • Decorated scholar athlete as she graduated Cum Laude while a member of the Honor Society and Dean’s List student

  • Daughter of Victor and Chidi Udoji
  • Sister Alexis played five years of basketball at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore
  • Alexis graduated UMES as the all-time leader in blocked shots (253) while she finished third all-time in school history in rebounding and eighth in games played
  • Brother Victor played basketball for one season at Merrimack College
  • Majoring in business management
