WASHINGTON (September 24, 2026) –  Howard University men's golf team resumes play in Munice, Ind., for the Earl Yestingsmeir Invitational, hosted by Ball State. The two-day (Sept. 25-26), 54-hole event takes place at Delaware Country Club.

TOURNAMENT PREVIEW
 
Earl Yestingsmeier was an exceptional supporter of Ball State and the patriarch of Ball State golf for more than 50 years. In 1955, Yestingsmeier earned his bachelor's degree from Ball State and his master's degree from the University three years later (1958). He then spent virtually his entire professional career working for his alma mater. He started as sports information director (1959) and became the golf coach four years later (1963). Yestingsmeier coached the Ball State men's golf team for 36 years until his retirement (1998), spending 31 of those years in a dual role as the university's sports information director. He remained one of Ball State's biggest fans until his passing in January 2014.
 
This year's participants include Howard, Ball State, Bowling Green State, Butler, Central Michigan, Chicago State, Cleveland State, Eastern Kentucky, Evansville, Georgia State, IU Indianapolis, Loyola-Chicago, Northern Kentucky, Purdue, Purdue-Fort Wayne and Wright State.

On Sept. 14-15, HU opened its 2026 fall slate at The Goat, hosted by Navy, where they tied for ninth overall.
 
Senior golfers Mitchell Grey (Mississauga, Canada) and Mathis Perroni (Metz, France) led the Bison, tying for 31st place (221, +8).
 
UPCOMING SCHEDULE
 
On Oct. 4-6, Howard goes to Dallas for the Trinity Forest Invitational, hosted by SMU.
