TOWSON, Md. (September 13, 2026) – Howard University women's volleyball team closed out the weekend with a tough three-set loss at Towson (25-18, 25-14, 25-16).
Senior outside hitter
Kennedi Wright (Plano, Texas) led the charge with seven kills, four digs and a service ace.
Both clubs went back-and-forth in the opening frame. Wright delivered a kill to give the Bison a 14-12 lead, but Towson (6-3) responded with a 7-0 run to grab the upper hand and take game one, 25-14.
Towson (TU) led from start-to-finish in set two, recording a .429 hitting percentage while taking a commanding 2-0 match lead.
HU refused to go away without a fight in game three. Howard held a 13-9 advantage, thanks to a kill from freshman middle blocker
Haarachi Umenwaliri (Chapel Hill, N.C.), but TU answered with 13 consecutive points to take control of the set, 22-13, and eventually win, 25-16.

Dayion Johnson (Jasper, Ala.) registered five kills apiece.
Setters
Alexys James (Houston) and
Sydnei Jones (Bridgeville, Pa.) combined for 26 dimes.
Junior libero
Camryn Shelton (Charlotte, N.C.) anchored the defense with 11 digs in the loss. After the match, she was selected to the Tiger Invitational All-Tournament Team for her outstanding weekend, posting 45 total digs (3.75 per set) and a pair of service aces.
Malinah Purcell-Telefoni led the Tiger attack with five kills, five blocks (match-high) and four service aces (match-high).
On Sept. 17, the Bison (1-8) come home to face crosstown opponent Georgetown. Match time is slated for 6 p.m., inside Burr Gymnasium.
