Sunday's showdown will be the fifth meeting between both schools with the Spiders leading, 3-0-1.
 
A year ago (Aug. 31, 2025), Howard posted a draw with a 1-1 finish against the Richmond Spiders (3-1-2) in Greene Stadium.
 
Notching her first goal as a Bison, Demi Owens (Teaneck, N.J.) played clean up, taking the ball from the 40-yard line to the net, opening the scoring in the 35^th minute.
 
HOWARD
 
HU (0-3-2) is seeking its first win of the season while looking to build momentum before conference play.
 
Senior Midfielder Asia Mickens-Perez (Upper Marlboro, Md.) and junior defender Nadia Bolden (Charlotte, N.C.) rank among the NEC leaders with two goals apiece, which is tied for second in the conference.
 
Senior goalie Trinity Knox (Atlanta) is second in the league with 41 total saves and 8.20 saves per game.
 
Entering the season, HU was projected to finish fourth in the NEC.
 
Bison head coach Brent Leiba is in his 18^th season and has brought the program to national prominence during his tenure. He is the winningest coach in school history, nearing 150 victories and a future Hall of Famer.
 
RICHMOND
 
The Spiders (4-0-3) have gone unbeaten in their first seven games of a season while outscoring their opponents 11-4 in that span.
 
Morgane Zinn scored the game-winner in the 81^st minute at VMI Thursday (Sept. 10). She leads UR with three goals (tied for sixth in the A10) and seven points (tied for seventh in the A10) this season.
 
Entering the season, Richmond was projected to finish 12^th in the A10 Preseason Poll.
 
LAST TIMEOUT
 
On Sept. 6, Howard scored a season-high four goals, but came up short on the road at La Salle, 7-4, in Philly (Philadelphia).
 
Bolden and Mickens-Perez each recorded two scores in the loss.
