HOWARD
Howard is looking to rebound from a heartbreaking 1-0 loss at Delaware Thursday (Aug. 20).
Entering the season, Howard (0-1) has a number of key returning players, including junior forward
Daniil Kaban (Kharkiv, Ukraine), senior defender
Nigel McCloud (Fayetteville, Ga.) and midfielders
Zach Simmons (Rockwall, Texas) and
Onarae Rice (Greenville, S.C.).
Bison head coach
Phillip Gyau enters his 12th season at his alma mater, looking to make the NEC Tournament for the first time since joining as an associate member in 2021.
HU was projected to finish seventh in the NEC after going 5-11-2 (3-5-1 NEC) during the 2025 campaign.
VIRGINIA TECH
Virginia Tech (0-1) is looking to bounce back after a tough 1-0 loss at Ohio State.
Before the season, senior midfielder Yanis Belatrache was selected to the 2026 ACC Preseason Watch List. The Frenchman started all 16 contests a year ago, logging 1,285 minutes.
Virginia Tech was predicted to finish 12
th in the 2026 ACC Preseason Coaches Poll.
LAST TIMEOUT
Thursday (Aug. 20), Howard kept the high-powered Delaware Blue Hens off the board for more than 80 minutes, but a late goal in the waning moments downed HU in its season opener, 1-0.
Kaban, an All-NEC selection a year ago, led the Bison attack with a team-leading three shot attempts.
