NORFOLK, Va. (July 20, 2026) – The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) uncovered its 2026 Football Preseason awards where Howard University saw five Bison selected. The announcement came Monday afternoon.
Four Bison made Preseason All-MEAC First Team: graduates
Kedrick Green (Winston-Salem, N.C.) and
Eden James (Indianapolis), junior
Matt Conord (Lithia, Fla.) and sophomore
Liam Allen IV (Sanford, Fla.).
Graduate quarterback
Ja'Shawn Scroggins (Las Vegas) earned a spot on the Preseason All-MEAC Second Team.
Furthermore, the conference revealed its Preseason Predicted Order of Finish where Howard was projected to place sixth overall. HU totaled 15 points.
North Carolina Central's (NCCU) Chance Peterson and South Carolina State's (SCSU) Jordan Franklin were named MEAC Preseason Offensive and Defensive Players of the Year, respectively.
SCSU was predicted to three-repeat as MEAC Champions, scoring 49 points (five first-place votes), edging out NCCU (42 points, one first-place vote).
The MEAC Football Preseason Awards and Predicted Order of Finish were voted by the league's head coaches and sports information directors.
On Aug. 29, HU takes on Alabama A&M in the annual MEAC/SWAC Challenge in Atlanta, live on ABC.
