Bison Fall to Eagles in Spring Break Matchup

McIntosh-Ross earns lone point as Howard drops contest to N.C. Central

ORLANDO, Fla. – Howard University men's tennis fell to North Carolina Central, 6-1, Tuesday morning at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Fla.

Howard (0-5) was unable to secure the doubles point, dropping all three matches to open the day. The duo of junior Michael Major Jr. (Nassau, Bahamas) and sophomore Kamran McIntosh-Ross (Atlanta, GA) competed at No. 1 doubles, while junior Kendrick Lash (Winston-Salem, NC) paired with freshman Marcus Weekes (London, United Kingdom) at No. 2. Freshman Nathan Bermeo (Durham, NC) and junior Shawn Mitchell Yon (Queens, NY) rounded out doubles play at the No. 3 position.

In singles competition, McIntosh-Ross delivered the lone victory for the Bison at the No. 2 spot. The Atlanta native battled through a three-set match, earning a hard-fought win in a super tiebreak to secure Howard's only point of the contest.

Major Jr. competed at No. 1 singles, while Weekes pushed his match to three sets at the No. 3 position. Yon (No. 4), Lash (No. 5) and freshman Alexander Monagan (Natchez, MS) at No. 6 rounded out the singles lineup for the Bison.

Despite the final score, Howard showed resilience throughout singles play, with multiple matches extending into competitive sets against a balanced N.C. Central squad.

The Bison return to action on March 25th at 12 PM when they take on the Longwood Lancers in Takoma Park, MD.
