Men’s Hoops Closes Out Home Slate with Coppin State

Bison looking to extend win streak against Eagles

WASHINGTON (March 2, 2026) – Howard University men's basketball team is looking to extend its current win streak to five when it hosts Coppin State (CSU) in the home regular season finale Monday (March 2). Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m., inside Burr Gymnasium.

COACHES
 
Coppin State is coached by Larry Stewart (Coppin State, '06), who is in his third year at the helm. Howard is led by Kenneth Blakeney (Duke, '95), who is in his seventh season.
 
THE SERIES
 
Earlier this year (Feb. 2, 2026), Howard (19-10, 9-3 MEAC) defeated the Eagles, 72-53, in Baltimore. In that game, junior guard Cedric Taylor III (Atlanta) led the way with 21 points and nine rebounds. For CSU, DeMariontay Hall posted 12 points and seven boards in the loss.
 
Howard has won six-of-the-last-seven matchups in the series, but the Eagles lead the series, 48-31, dating back to 1986.

The Eagles are coming off a 75-69 loss to Norfolk State Saturday (Feb. 28), snapping a season-best four-game win streak. Coppin State was led by Khali Horton with 16 points.
 
HOWARD
 
Saturday (Feb. 28), the trio of guards Taylor, Bryce Harris (Brentwood, N.Y.) and Ose Okojie (Brampton, Canada) combined for 63 of their team's points as the Bison dominated Morgan State, 84-59, in an important Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) showdown at Hill Field House.
